A task marketplace for South Africa, designed and built end to end by the same person who would build your site. It is live on the App Store, with payments, identity verification and real-time systems running in production.

The brief
What it had to do
Mosebetsi is a task marketplace for South Africa: somewhere a person can post an everyday job, from holding a place in the Home Affairs queue to moving a couch, and hire a verified local to do it.
The hard part of any marketplace is trust. Strangers have to be comfortable letting someone into their home, and money has to move safely between people who have never met. Every system below exists to solve one of those two problems.

What was built
The systems inside it

Step 01 An iOS app and a web platform
Clients post a task and set a budget. Taskers browse tasks near them and apply at that budget. The iOS app is live on the App Store, with Android to follow.

Step 02 Payments held until the work is done
Clients pay through Ozow, and Mosebetsi collects as platform operator. The tasker is paid their share only after the client confirms the job, with a 48 hour review window and automatic settlement after it.

Step 03 Identity verification
Every tasker uploads an SA ID or passport and takes a live selfie in the app, with gallery uploads blocked. A police clearance certificate earns a Pro badge.

Step 04 Safety built into the flow
Arrival check-in by GPS, in-app messaging so nobody has to share a phone number, a dispute process, and an SOS feature.

Step 05 Real-time systems
Applications arrive within minutes of a task going up, and both sides follow progress live.

Step 06 POPIA and consumer law
A privacy policy built around POPIA, and terms that cover cancellations, no-shows and settlement under South African law.
